How Galaxies Shape Up
Max Kurzner
Abstract
When we look out into the Universe from our home here in the Milky Way we see a startling and diverse array of galaxies everywhere we look. This begs the question, why are there so many different types of galaxies and why do they come in such a variety of shapes and sizes?
In this talk we will learn all about how galaxies grow, evolve and change throughout time and the processes at play that create the stunning variety of galaxies we see in the Universe. We will also learn about methods used by astronomers to study these galaxies and what they tell us about how our own milky way galaxy formed and its ultimate fate.
