abstract

Some early scientific discoveries made at the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory are discussed. These include mapping our Galaxy's spiral arms using hot stars, the study of variable stars in globular clusters, and an early measurement of the 3-Kelvin temperature of the Cosmic Background Radiation.

Dr. James Nemec teaches Astronomy and Physics courses at Camosun College and for the past decade has been studying old variable stars using the KEPLER/K2 and TESS space telescopes.
