The Next Decade in Canadian Astrophysics
Canada is a world leader in astronomy, and Canadian astronomers and engineers are involved in an exciting array of new projects that will transform our understanding of the Universe over the coming decade and beyond. I will talk about some of these projects with a special emphasis on how all Canadians can be connected to this deeply human voyage of exploration.
Featured Guest Speaker: Luc Simard,
Director-General, Herzberg Astrophysics Research Centre
Luc joined the NRC in 2002 where he was the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope archive scientist at the Canadian Astronomy Data Centre from 2002 to 2005. He worked on the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) from 2005 to 2017, and was the TMT Science Instruments Group Leader from 2009 to 2017.
Luc’s research interests include galaxy formation and evolution, image processing and instrumentation
