The Friends of the DAO are pleased to welcome you to our celebrations of the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing.
Come visit us and explore this momentous achievement in human history during July 16 - 20 at the Centre of the Universe! The Centre is open to the Public Tuesday to Friday from 10 am to 3pm.

In addition to special exhibits and guest speakers, there will also be Gallery tours, Planetarium shows, Telescope and Dome tours, a Moon Photography Booth, a Virtual Reality station, and a Memory wall to add your own personal remembrances or memorabilia!

A closer look at how Canadians and Canadian industry contributed to the Apollo 11 mission.
Wednesday July 17
Apollo in the Age of Aquarius - Dennis Crabtree
From astronaut ice cream to David Bowie’s ‘Space Oddity’ and the Vietnam War, the impact of the space race, pop-culture and civil rights in the tumultuous 1960s will be explored.
Thursday July 18
The Moon after Apollo - Phil Stooke
The Moon was all but forgotten between the mid-1970s and 1990 as a wave of robotic missions swept across the solar system, but since then many nations have sent spacecraft to the Moon, to orbit, impact or land on its surface.
Saturday July 20 6:00pm to 10:45pm

Featured Activity: 7:45pm - The Apollo 11 Moon Walk - Chris Gainor
This presentation will show the entire Apollo 11 moonwalk as it was televised on the evening of July 20, 1969, the symbolic aspects of the first walk on another celestial body, and the scientific work carried out by astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the lunar surface.
